THE ECO EDITION: COUNTRY ROAD

I was fortunate enough to celebrate Earth Day in April with the launch of a creative project for Country Road that I worked on alongside with one of my nearest and dearests, Ally of Substance Blog.

Our collaboration was to highlight their 'Feel Good Jean', which isn't your average pair of jeans. The magic behind this special pair is that it's crafted with eco-friendly fibres made from a blend of recycled cotton scraps and wood sourced from sustainably managed forests! Amazing right? They're soft, stretchy and comfortable - basically a dream to wear.

They're the first major Australian retailer to use sustainable Refibra™ branded lyocell fibres, which is a huge game changer for the fashion industry and Country Road are doing incredible things to lead the pack.

I previously worked with CR in collaboration with I-Manifest x The Red Cross to host a workshop last year for a group of students which was one of my favourite moments to date. They have a great partnership with the Red Cross where their customers are rewarded with a $10 Fashion Trade voucher when they donate their Country Road items to a Red Cross Shop.

Since the inception of this initiative in 2011, they have received over 200,000 items of pre-loved CR items from brand and customer donations, saving these pieces from just sitting in the back of a wardrobe being unworn, or worse - ending up in landfill.

I'm proud to be able to work on these kind of projects that help promote sustainability and help create awareness for recycling, reusing and reimagining within the Fashion Industry.

I challenge everyone to have a little think about the mark you're making on the environment and what you can do to help make a positive impact - whether that's using a keep cup, using a reusable shopping bag or being more conscious of what your jeans are made of.
